Unmapped Travel is not itself a transport carrier, tour, event or accommodation provider and acts only as an agent for those service providers. By making a booking you accept these terms and conditions. We reserve the right to amend these terms and conditions from time to time.
Unmapped Travel (‘the Company’, “we”, “us” and “our”) accepts bookings subject to the following conditions. Except where expressly stated, these conditions only apply to tour arrangements booked by the client with the Company and which the Company agrees to make, provide or perform (as applicable) as part of their contract with the client. All references in these conditions to “tour”, “booking”, “contract” or “arrangements” mean such tour arrangements unless otherwise stated.
How to book
Bookings can be made through this website or through a registered travel agent. To secure a booking, the Company must receive payment of the deposit which is at least 10% of the total tour price, per person, (or full payment if booking within 60 days of the start of your tour or at an earlier stage for some tours). A higher deposit will be payable if any supplier(s) requires additional payment at the time of booking / prior to balance due date. The applicable deposit will be confirmed at the time of booking.
All clients (including anyone who is added or substituted at a later date), whether booking in person, by telephone, via our website, by e-mail or facsimile or by any other means, will be deemed to have agreed to the following four conditions:
a) they have read and accepted our booking conditions and general information pages
b) they appreciate and accept the risks involved in adventure travel.
c) they do not suffer from any pre-existing medical condition or disability which may prevent them from actively participating in the tour – if any person suffers from any medical condition or disability which will or may affect their tour arrangements, please contact us before making your booking so that we can advise whether the tour will be suitable.
d) the person making the booking warrants that he/she is at least 18 years old and has full authority to enter into a contract on the basis of these conditions on behalf of all persons named on the booking and confirms that all such persons are fully aware of and accept these conditions.
A booking is accepted and becomes definite only from the date when the Company issues a confirmation invoice to the client who makes the booking or their authorised travel agent. It is at this point that a contract between the Company and the client comes into existence.
For bookings made via our website, any acknowledgement of your booking request we send to you in the meantime is not a confirmation of your booking. Before your booking is confirmed and a contract comes into force, the Company reserves the right to increase or decrease holiday prices. Where our allocation of air seats has been fully utilised or where it is not possible to offer an air seat from an allocation, we reserve the right to pass on any extra costs incurred.
If you book via our website, we will communicate with you by e-mail. You must accordingly check your e-mails on a regular basis. We may also contact you by telephone and/or post if we cannot, for whatever reason, contact you by e-mail. Certain documents may need to be sent by post. References in these conditions to “send” and “in writing” or similar include communication by e-mail. You should contact us by e-mail if you need to do so for any of the reasons mentioned in these booking conditions (for example, to request an amendment). All e-mails should be sent to [email protected]
All rates are in Australian dollars and include GST where applicable but exclude any other taxes. In the unlikely event that a tour fails to attract the minimum passenger numbers, the tour may be cancelled at the discretion of Unmapped Travel. Unmapped Travel may also cancel, at its discretion, any tour for operational or other reasons. If a tour is cancelled, monies already paid by passengers will be refunded or credited towards future travel, at your choice. Unmapped Travel will not be responsible for any other travel arrangements affected by, or costs imposed because of, our cancellation.
Final payment must be made no later than 60 days prior to travel on your Unmapped Travel tour unless otherwise specified. Should you not make your final payment by this deadline, Unmapped Travel reserves the right to cancel your place. Regular cancellation fees will apply.
Should the client wish to cancel, cancellation charges will be imposed. These are calculated from the day written notification is received by the Company as a percentage of the total tour price per person cancelling, excluding any amendment charges and insurance premiums. The cancellation charges shown below are those which will apply to most tours. However, some suppliers have conditions which require the payment of higher or different charges (including the imposition of 100% cancellation charges well in advance of the normal balance due date) which you will have to pay in the event of cancellation. You will be advised at the time of booking if this is the case for your tour.
More than 60 days prior to departure - loss of deposit
Between 59 or less prior to departure - 100% of total tour cost
The above cancellation fees are in addition to any that may be charged by travel agents, airlines, hotels or other tour operators.
Amendments and changes to your booking
For any amendments and/or changes to your booking an administration fee of $100 will apply in addition to any extra charges or fees incurred by the change.
Travel documents are electronic and will be emailed to you or your travel agent approximately 21 days prior to departure (providing full payment and required paperwork has been received). If you are leaving home earlier, please advise us so that we can email your documents before you leave home.
Clients are responsible for arranging, and must be in possession of, a valid, acceptable passport and any visas and vaccination certificates required for the whole of their journey and tour. Information about these matters or related items (climate, clothing, baggage, personal gear etc) is given in good faith but without responsibility on the part of the Company. We regret we cannot accept any liability if you are refused entry onto any transport or into any country due to failure on your part to carry all required documentation. If failure to have any necessary travel or other documents results in fines, surcharges or other financial penalty being imposed on us, you will be responsible for reimbursing us accordingly.
It is a condition of travel that each passenger is adequately covered by an appropriate travel insurance policy for duration of travel. Please also check the contingencies of your prospective insurance cover and ensure you are aware of its conditions and omissions. We strongly advise travel insurance is taken out at the time of booking to provide full cover. This insurance must cover against personal accident, death, medical expenses and emergency repatriation with a recommended minimum coverage of US$200,000 for each of the categories of cover.
If we cancel your tour
The Company reserves the right to cancel a tour in any circumstances but will not cancel a tour less than 4 weeks before the start of the tour except for force majeure or the client’s failure to make all payments when due. Please note, except for “Guaranteed Departures”, our tours require a minimum number of participants to enable us to operate them. If any tour does not have the minimum number of participants required to make it commercially viable, we are entitled to cancel it. We will notify you or your travel agent of cancellation for this reason not less than 4 weeks before the start of your tour.
If we have to cancel, we will tell you as soon as possible. If there is time to do so before departure and the cancellation does not result from your failure to pay, we will offer you the choice of purchasing an alternative tour offered as a result of consolidation or another available tour from the Company (in either case, paying or receiving a refund in respect of any difference in price) or receiving a full refund of all monies paid to us.
We regret we cannot meet any visa, vaccination or similar costs in the event of any change or cancellation by us. Similarly, as you are advised only to book fully flexible transport and other arrangements which can be cancelled or changed without charge, we cannot pay any cancellation, amendment or other charges you may incur in relation to any transport or other arrangements which you have to change or cancel as a result of the cancellation of your tour.
Tours marked as 'Guaranteed Departures' are guaranteed to depart, regardless of passenger numbers. However, we reserve the right to withdraw this guarantee for a force majeure event including but not limited to terrorist attack, travel warning, economic downturn, war, client safety at risk or for operational reasons such as any late cancellation of group parties causing passenger numbers to fall below minimum operating numbers.
Should any tour be cancelled due to minimum numbers not being met or force majeure circumstances as stated above, you will be offered a full refund or a replacement travel option at your choice.
On tours that offer airport transfers as an inclusion, an airport transfer to/from your hotel will be provided on the arrival day of the tour (within the ground supplier’s operating hours). Flight details must be provided to Unmapped Travel. Documentation will not be released until this information is provided. Once transfers are booked, they cannot be changed. Only one inbound will be included as a group transfer, unless otherwise stated. All transfers are based on group transfers, and no refund is available for missed transfers or passengers not using the transfer service. Unampped Travel will not be responsible for any flight delays or cancellations caused by the late arrival or departure of an airport transfer, or for cancellation fees associated with a missed flight.
Changes to your tour
While the Company will do its best to operate all tours as advertised, it reserves the right to change and correct errors in any of the facilities, services, prices or itineraries described in this brochure and/or on the website at any time before or after your booking is confirmed. Descriptions of tours, attractions and accommodation provided on this website are based on information provided by hotels and suppliers. Small deviations in the tour program are sometimes necessary, depending on weather, road conditions, flight schedules and room availability.
Except where otherwise expressly stated in these conditions, we regret we cannot accept liability or pay any compensation where the performance or prompt performance of our obligations under our contract with you is prevented or affected by or you otherwise suffer any injury, damage, loss or expense of any nature as a result of “force majeure”. In these conditions, “force majeure” means any event which we or the supplier of the service(s) in question could not, even with all due care, foresee or avoid. Such events may include whether actual or threatened war, riot, civil strife, terrorist activity, industrial dispute, natural or nuclear disaster, adverse weather conditions, disease, fire and all similar events outside our control.
All customers are required to familiarise themselves with any health requirements specific to countries being visited. All customers should visit their doctor for these purposes and/or to confirm that they are physically able to undertake the day-to-day requirements of the tour. You should obtain any required or recommended vaccinations.
You must notify Unmapped Travel if you have any pre-existing medical conditions that might reasonably be expected to affect the tour arrangements and release Unmapped Travel from any liability for anything relating to a pre-existing health condition that may interfere with your tour. Any necessary medical attention will be provided by a local facility at the passenger's expense. Unmapped Travel is not responsible or liable for any losses or costs incurred as a result of medical services obtained while on tour, or for the quality of the care or services provided.
Refusal of carriage
The Company retains the right to remove customers from our tours for reasons that impact on the enjoyment or safety of other passengers, such as, but not limited to, the physical, medical, mental inability of customers to undertake the arrangements of the holiday, unsocial or unruly behaviour, illegal activity or the carriage of prohibited substances or materials. Onward travel arrangements will be at the expense of the traveller removed from the tour.
Not included in the price
Anything not specifically included in the tour is at your own expense. Tours do not include international airfares.
Should the client have a complaint about any of their tour arrangements, the client must tell both the relevant supplier and the Company’s representative at the time. It is only if the Company and the relevant supplier know about problems that there will be the opportunity to put things right. Failure to complain on the spot may result in the client’s ability to claim compensation, if applicable, from the Company being extinguished or at least reduced. If the client’s complaint cannot be resolved on tour they should notify the Company in writing within 28 days of their return from tour.

Limitation of liability

If the law implies a condition or warranty that cannot be excluded, Unmapped Travel’s ' liability for a breach of the conditions or warranty will be limited as determined by Unmapped Travel to the re-supply or payment of the cost of re-supplying the relevant goods or services. Except where otherwise stated within these terms and conditions Unmapped Travel excludes liability for any loss or damage that may be caused by cancellation, abandonment, alteration, amendment, modification or termination of the tour.
All clients booking and making payments through a travel agent should satisfy themselves that they are financially protected by the travel agent's own protection scheme, which you should check carefully before purchasing your travel arrangements. Unmapped Travel is not financially liable for bookings due to the insolvency of your travel agent.
